Summary:
Responsible for managing, maintaining and billing of student accounts and miscellaneous accounts receivable and overseeing front-desk coverage.
Essential Functions:
Timely and accurate billing of student and miscellaneous accounts receivable.
Facilitate communication with appropriate departments and staff related to the billing of student accounts and miscellaneous receivables.
Collection of monies owed for tuition, fees, housing, meal plans, fines and all other miscellaneous charges.
Participate in annual financial aid training in order to understand aid options and provide accurate counseling to students in areas such as filling of the FASFA and federal student loan eligible amounts.
Contact students with current and past due balances; provide high quality customer service to various constituents.
Resolve student and parent inquiries regarding student accounts in a timely and courteous manner in accordance to federal guidelines.
Propose payment options to students/parents and enhance their understanding of meeting their financial obligations and College payment policies during individual sessions, New Student Orientation, Transformation and Jump Start.
Monitor past due balances and refer accounts to outside collection agencies.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Consider and propose to the Comptroller special payment arrangements on a case-by-case basis.
Serve as the liaison for student health insurance program, financial aspects of the study abroad programs and the Tuition Management program.
Serve as back-up to the Financial Aid Specialist for answering emails and/or telephone inquiries when needed.
Work closely with the Office of Financial Aid to maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations and requirements for financial aid.
Coordinate with front-desk for coverage of the Business Office to answer the telephone and field walk-in questions.
Reply to general information requests with the accurate information.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

Essential:
Associate degree in accounting, business management/administration or related field from an accredited institution or combination of relevant education and experience Desirable:
Bachelors degree in related field from an accredited four-year college or university
Experience:
Essential:
1-2 years accounts receivable and collections experience in professional office setting Desirable:
2-3 years experience in student accounts in higher education setting LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
None required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality pertaining to student accounts and Business Office information.
Knowledge of accounts receivable accounting procedures.
Knowledge of collection best practices.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds as part of an educational team.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The office is located on the first floor of a historical building that does not have a ramp to the front door.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Normal work day is Monday through Friday 8:
00AM to 5:
00PM, including one hour allocated for lunch.
Flexibility is needed for periodic evening and weekend presentations to incoming students and their families regarding student account procedures.
